Academic Teams General Contact -


Academic teams offer a wonderful enrichment opportunity for CRES students. In addition to learning math, science, engineering, culture and other educational subjects, students have an opportunity to experience working together in groups toward common goals, and healthy competition. Plus, they get to have a lot of fun with their friends!

1. Science Olympiad Div. A & B : Please register on the form above AND also sign up via the google forms below. Grades 3-5 & 5-6.  
2. Odyssey of the Mind : 
CRES does not have a team. The purpose of the sign up is to have a group of parents to determine if they can form a team. Grades K-6. Information about the program can be found here :
3. Lego League : 
This is a parent led team. There is a CRES parent who is acting as the school coach and can be a resource. Grades K-6
4. Quiz bowl : 
Grades 5 & 6.
5. Math Olympiad : 
Grades 4, 5, & 6.


Registration for Science Olympiad Division A 




Science Olympiad






Science Olympiad is a national science tournament with multiple levels of competition: invitational, regional, state, and national. Students compete in events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Unlike many other science enrichment opportunities, Science Olympiad provides a team experience, allows for a great deal of creativity, and exposes students to a wide variety of topics. Colvin Run students may compete in EITHER Division A or Division B.  


Division A is open to students from grades 3-5 and is a great introduction to Science Olympiad. This is an opportunity for students to have fun and learn and does not advance past the regional level. Contact Chandrani Ohdedar Das with Division A questions.

Division B is open to students from grades 5-8 and is much more competitive and challenging. Students can advance beyond the regional level. Contact Awo Archampong-Gray with Division B questions.

CRES Science Olympiad Division B Grades 5-6 - CLOSED
Registration is open for CRES Science Olympiad Division B! Interested parents, please make sure to read ALL the information below before registering your child. Parents must sign a waiver in order to participate.

Lego League






This building and research-based program is designed to capture the inherent curiosity of children in grades K-3 and teach them valuable employment and life skills. The junior program provides an introduction to basic science and engineering concepts. The grade 4-6 robotics program applies these concepts.

This international educational program provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level.


The Academic Teams Committee is looking for Co-Leads for Lego League for this school year.

Grades K-6







Quiz Bowl and U.S. Academic Bowl are academic competitions in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more. Bee tournaments are for individual players.

CRES is building up the first quizbowl team. The weekly training (via Zoom, waiver required) will include practice, scrimmage and study materials to advance students’ interest and knowledge in covered academic areas. The team will also represent CRES in various tournaments.

Grades 4-6






Registration is now open. CRES is building up its Math League team. The weekly meeting will be held by parent volunteers.  Some team members may represent CRES in various tournaments.
