Orange Wand Magic with Ultimate Magic Academy
Mondays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Get ready to take an amazing adventure into the exciting world of magic. Learn how to teleport objects across the room, find hidden magical treasures and levitate a cup of popcorn just to name a few. In this course students will learn the three parts that make up a magic trick with a special focus on presentation. More importantly they will discover the real secrets to becoming a true magician as each lesson reveals an important life skill to help build their confidence and communication skills. Each lesson comes with a custom magic prop, a top secret file folder, and a secret word to unlock bonus videos in an online video vault. Grades: 2-6

Pickleball with Mr. Bittner and Ms. Dunning
Tuesdays 8 - 9am
Pickleball is a cross between ping pong, tennis, and chess—is the fastest growing sport in the country! Come ready for some fun learning the ins and outs of this active pastime. Throughout the session, you will build hand-eye coordination while learning how to hit serves, volleys, dinks, and lobs. Looking forward to seeing you hit the courts at CRES! Grades: 4-6

Fantasy Football with Ms. Allen
Tuesdays 8 - 9am
Come and join Ms. Allen in the world of Fantasy Football. Learn how to create, draft, and manage your own NFL Fantasy team throughout the session. Bragging rights and weekly prizes for highest scoring team. Grades 4-6

Chess with U.S. Chess Center, lead teacher Mr. Albert Anderson
Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:30pm
Chess teaches responsibility, discipline, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Chess players learn how to make the most of their opportunities and how to turn a bad situation to their advantage. They learn not to make excuses for their setbacks, and to win and lose graciously. Players are grouped by ability, not age. Club members are provided opportunities to represent Colvin Run in local, state, and national competitions.
*Note that Chess starts on 9/15 and runs till 1/26 for the fall semester. There will be chess every Tuesday that school is in session. It also has a later end time of 5:30pm
Shooting Stars Soccer with Overtime Athletics

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL! Take your game to the next level! Join us for Shooting Stars Soccer and learn to play Soccer like the pros! Coaches will teach you skills like dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting and defense. This program emphasizes fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship. Have a blast and make new friends playing World Cup Tournament, Battle Balls, Trapper 500, Corner Kick Challenge and Soccer Knockout. Grades K-6

Hip Hop with Kids in Motion
Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:15pm
This class is a high energy, exciting dance fitness class, with an emphasis on hip hop music and dances. Classes are set up with kid friendly music, movements, and routines. They will learn choreography to about three songs per class. In addition to a dance workout, they will end the class with a super fun dance game, such as freeze dance, dancing 4 corners, follow the leader, and the like! Grades K-6

Garden Club with Mr. Bittner and Ms. Beisel
Tuesdays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Get ready to dig into the CRES gardens while preparing for the SOL Science unit on plants and identifying the Character shapes connected to the garden. Hands-on activities involve (1) NEW “Edge of Space Missions and Beyond” program within NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Solar System Ambassador team - our seeds will go up with a payload to outer space in October, returning to us in late November to plant in a test garden bed, (2) dissecting flowers and seed pods, (3) identifying native trees and plants, (4) exploring the value of native pollinators, and (5) building a habitat garden for Virginia's state butterfly, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Grades 2-6

Run Club with Ms. Bunch and Ms. Franklin
Wednesdays 8:15 - 9am
Join us for ten weeks of fun and fitness as we work on our running skills and build endurance. We will end our session with a 5k run! *Note that Run Club starts at 8:15am. Grades 3-6

Money Math with Spark Business Academy
Wednesdays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Designed for our youngest students, this program is a real-life math lab where students learn computational concepts and develop a foundation for building financial literacy and healthy financial habits, using real-world situations. Students will play money math games, do budgeting activities and learn organizational skills. Grades K-2

'COOL'inary Morning Cooking Club with Sticky Fingers Cooking

Stir up some autumn fun with Sticky Fingers Cooking! Young chefs will chop, mix, whisk, and taste their way through delicious global recipes—100% nut-free and allergy-friendly. Autumn Pottery Adventure with Mudskippers Pottery
Thursdays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Get ready for a cozy, creative autumn adventure! In this fun hands-on pottery class, kids will learn basic clay skills like coiling, pinching, and shaping while making Fall-themed projects such as self-portrait gingerbread ornaments, Halloween monster pots and more! Students will hand-paint each of their pieces and we’ll fire them in our professional kiln. We’ll learn some art history along the way and finish each session with an art show! Grades K-6

Aces Tennis with Overtime Athletics
Thursdays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Keep your eye on the ball and join Overtime Athletics for the fast paced game of Tennis! You'll learn the rules of the game, grip, serving, volleying, forehand and backhand strokes. This class will work on hand eye coordination, footwork and concentration while participating in game play and stations. Player favorites like Gladiator, Fill It Up, and Safe Base will keep classes energized and FUN and give beginner players plenty of opportunities to build their confidence! Game, Set, Match! Read All About It! with Spark Business Academy

Join the staff of your very own newspaper, and develop time management and writing skills as you learn “who, what, when, where and why.” Students will learn to interview, write about local news, voice their opinions in op-ed essays and manage production of their digital publication. A must for aspiring school newspaper writers and editors! Grades 3-5

Legos with Ms. Miskinyar
Fridays 8 - 9am
Show your creativity as you build LEGO creations. Each week will offer a different project theme, including Boat Races (build a sailboat to race with box fan “wind”), building a Bridge that can withstand certain weights, Tree Forts, and building while blindfolded. While having fun with LEGOS, students will find their inner designer, engineer or inventor. This is the ideal class for any LEGO-maniac! Grades K-4

Young Musketeers Fencing & Robin Hoods Archery with Nova Fencing & Archery Club Fridays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Young Musketeers introduces kids (beginners & returning) to fencing! These one-hour classes focus on: Essential skills (Footwork, bladework, strategy, and fencing rules), Fun drills & games (Learn fencing basics in a fun, engaging way), Coordination & fitness (Build speed, endurance, and critical thinking). All in a safe environment with age-appropriate equipment. Bonus! After 4 weeks, transition to Young Robin Hood’s Archery! Hit the Target Like a Hero! Become a master archer like Robin Hood! Learn archery basics in a safe, fun program. Use kid-friendly bows and soft-tipped arrows to hit the target and build skills. Be a hero, have a blast!

Artistic and Cartoon Drawing with Young Rembrandts
Fridays 4:15 - 5:15pm
Young Rembrandts™ combined the Artistic and the Cartooning curriculums to encourage your child’s enthusiasm for art with a great sense of humor. The class uses a structured stepwise format to teach elementary students useful drawing skills, focusing on artistic expression. Objects and ideas are broken down into simple shapes, then exaggeration, caricature, and personification is used to playfully construct the animated characters in humorous settings. Our drawing curriculums are designed to encourage our students with creativity, imagination, and confidence. It also develops academically relevant skills, including spatial-motor planning, mental discipline and fine motor skills, while providing a fun, enriching experience for our students. New lesson every week with a six-year curriculum! Students never see a repeat lesson while enrolled from kindergarten to 6th grade. Grades K-6

Young Investors Club with Isaac Bockman
Fridays 4:15 - 5:15pm
The Young Investors Club is a small-group club open to 5th and 6th grade students interested in learning about investing (maximum of 6 students). Students will learn how stocks work, what drives prices, and how to make smart investment choices through games, discussions, and simulations. They will explore key investment concepts such as risk vs. reward, diversification, and long-term growth. Each student will learn how to research a real company and build a mock portfolio. The club will be led by a former CRES student, now a Langley High School student, along with a parent. Grades 5-6
