CRES School Supplies Made Easy
Each year the CRES PTO works with teachers to finalize each grade's supply list and organizes a cost-effective, hassle-free online purchase option for parents. Once again we're working with School Tool Box. They offer great prices and more flexibility to make shopping for school supplies easier than ever.
How it works
- Go to SchoolToolBox.com
If you don't see the CRES options, click on "Find boxes now" and enter "Colvin Run Elementary" to find your child's supply list.
- Customize your order
Easily add extras or remove items you already own. Already have scissors or headphones? Take them off the list and save!
- Supplies ship directly to you
Your supply box ships directly to your home - just bring it to meet the teacher day or the first day of school. Going out of town? Simply select the week your supplies should be delivered. Allow two weeks for delivery.

The Sixth Grade River Bend Party is a parent-hosted, optional, out-of-school event. It is not sponsored by the PTO or Colvin Run Elementary School. Questions: Contact Theresa Bhatia
A Reminder: The 6th Grade River Bend Party is a KID-ONLY event. Please only buy a ticket for your 6th grader. We will have ~20 parents chaperoning the event. They will be stationed throughout the River Bend Clubhouse, where the party will be held, including the restrooms. The chaperones will not be participating in the party but will be stationed in key areas to ensure that all 6th graders make good choices and enjoy their evening. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Theresa Bhatia.
We are accepting donations from families who would like to contribute funds to sponsor students who cannot afford to participate in the festivities. If you'd like to donate - please enter the amount in the white box to the right.
Please let Barbara Ruffner in the main office know if you are unable to afford the payment for the River Bend Party. You may request payment assistance. The goal is to have 100% participation; funds should not be a reason not to attend.
If you prefer to pay by check, please contact the event organizers directly.

Diving into Watercolors
Two separate sessions: July 24-28th or August 7-11 | 1:00-4:00 pm
Open to rising grades 3-7
$215 per week (includes all supplies needed)
This class introduces students to watercolors, their techniques and applications, while creating original work based upon themes each day. They will enhance their appreciation for various elements of art and the art world (e.g. color, texture, perspective, etc.). We will discuss art and try to develop abilities to see and to express feelings through it. We will do realistic and abstract paintings. With over X years of teaching experience, Ms. Katerina adapts the curriculum based on the group’s previous experience, their interests, and even their speed. All students will gain/improve their skills due to the small group (max 10 kids).
We will have a short snack break (students can bring anything they would like to have and a bottle of water). We might have an additional short break if we need to: everything depends on the kids and how they are doing. Some of them can paint for hours, while the others need a short break to be happy, creative and productive.

Learn the strategy of chess in this week-long chess camp. Mr. Mehler and other nationally certified instructors from the U.S. Chess Center will teach campers in a fun week that mixes chess with other recreational activities. The U.S. Chess Center has been running chess camps since 1992.
The U.S. Chess Center is the most experienced chess-teaching organization in the country. Its students have earned more than a dozen national championships, hundreds of its students have earned academic college scholarships and about 20 have become national masters.
We will have three U.S. Chess Center chess camps this summer. These camps focus on improving one’s chess skills through practice and lessons. The teachers place more emphasis on learning than on winning. Good sportsmanship is the key to having fun.
The morning half-day camp is for beginners and intermediate players entering grades 2 - 7. The afternoon camp is for players with greater experience rising into grades 3 - 8. The full-day camp is for players rising into grades 3 – 9 who are comfortable with tournament rules of chess.

As we gear up for end of year celebrations - AtoZ Directories is already hard at work on our directory for the 2017-2018 school year! Advertising in the CRES directory is a great way to connect directly with families in our community and support our school.
If your business would like to advertise in the CRES directory, please contact Lori Mankin for more information. Here is a link to the rate card, with an advertising opportunity for every budget. As an FYI, there are only a few premium spots still available because they usually sell quickly.
The lion King musical was a HUGE success! Our young actors did an amazing job and showed such courage getting up onstage, and performing. The musical would not have been possible without the dedication of all of our parents, committee chairs, teachers and of course our students.
A very big thank you to the director Carol Wolf, musical director Libby McConnell, and our choreographer Jodi Mcllhenney. Also, we want to thank our fantastic chairs of this event, Justine Simpson and Katie Connolly who worked so hard to make this musical as amazing as it was, THANK YOU!!!
There were so many amazing parents that stepped in and made costumes, designed the set, did makeup, and jumped in to lend a helping hand. CRES is so lucky to have such an amazing community of wonderful families.
Colvin Runners Complete 5K Race
A BIG CRES Congratulations to the Colvin Runners who completed a 5k race this Tuesday! Our running club has been working hard for the past two months to increase our endurance and strengthen our overall fitness. The club members came every Tuesday morning and worked up to being able to run a continuous 3.1 miles with a great attitude.
We love seeing the runners improve throughout the season and build their fitness through games, running, friendship and fun! Most importantly, they are extremely supportive of one another and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the season. Look for Colvin Run club again in the Fall, with our amazing coaches Mrs. Bunch, Mrs. Abernathy and Ms. Seiler!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
