** This registration is for the second 15-week class of Chess, starting February 1st. Chess has a 5:45pm end time.

Classes are only open to PTO families. Not a member? Sign up online for $25 per family.

 

Classes start the week of January 17th. (NOTE NEW START DATE - DELAYED ONE WEEK)

BASA Winter 2022 Class Descriptions 

  

Chess                                                                     

Tuesdays 4:15-5:45pm (STARTS FEB 1)

Instructor: Coach Mehler | $195 for 15 sessions (materials included)

Coach Mehler returns to coach the CRES Chess Club. This club is offered in two 15-class sessions, every Tuesday that school is in session. Students will move from learning the basics of chess to a variety of competition levels with their peers. Several tournaments will be offered throughout the year.  All levels of experience are welcome. Please note that this registration is for the second 15-week session, starting February 1st. This class runs until 5:45pm.

Crocheting                

Wednesdays 8:00-9:00am 

CRES Instructor: Ms. Matthews | $135 for 8 sessions (materials included)

Mix learning a lifelong skill with service learning! Students will learn how to crochet a hat, scarf, or blanket while also participating in a community donation of blankets. The crocheted blankets will be donated to local families in need through our local emergency rescue offices. Students will learn basic crochet stitches, common motifs and patterns.

Fencing for Young Jedi        

Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm

Instructor: Fencers Club | $185 for 8 sessions

Classes are conducted in the discipline of epee. Students will use standard fencing gear approved by the U.S. Fencing Organization. Fencing foils are lighter, more flexible and easier for children to handle. Students will focus on the fundamentals including footwork, handwork, strategy and rules of fencing. Classes will include group exercises as well as drills in pairs and bouting. Age-appropriate games and activities build on conditioning, speed and endurance and also emphasize critical thinking and quick decision-making. Proper covid protocols will be followed (i.e., all gear will be sanitized prior to use, equipment will not be shared, etc.). At the end, a tournament may be held at Nova Fencing Club. All levels of experience are welcome.

LEGO Building Club                     

Thursdays 4:15-5:15pm

CRES Instructor: Ms. White | $100 for 6 sessions (materials included)

Show your creativity as you build LEGO creations. Each week will offer a different project theme, including Boat Races (build a sailboat to race with box fan “wind”), Monster Mix Up (create a monster with the head, arms and legs cards that you randomly choose), and Disaster Island (build an island, pick a disaster card, and fix the problem). While having fun with LEGOS, students will find their inner designer, engineer or inventor. This is the ideal class for any LEGO-maniac!

Magic - Purple Wand Course        

Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm

Instructor:  The Ultimate Magic Academy | $255 for 8 sessions (materials included)

Disney Cruise Line Magician Joe Romano presents … The Ultimate Magic Academy’s Purple Wand Magic Class! This exciting after-school magic class will teach your kids how to read minds, restore broken items, make money appear and predict the future! Tuition includes custom magic tricks, “Top-Secret” file folders, online access to an amazing library of magic videos, and more!

Theater for Young Readers

Tuesdays 8:00-9:00am

CRES Instructor: Ms. Mulry | $130 for 7 sessions

Lights! Camera! Action! This class provides a theater option for our youngest actors and actresses. Students will focus on basic theater and acting techniques, design sets, create props, and produce costumes. In this session, our actors and actresses will be playing roles from some of Mo Willems’ most beloved stories. The 7-sessions will culminate in a short play for parents.

Yoga​​​​​​​​​                                   

Tuesdays 4:15-5:15pm

CRES Instructor: Mr. Bittner | $100 for 6 sessions

Yoga is a fantastic way for your child to unwind after a long school day! In this hour-long yoga class, students will improve their flexibility, strength, and coordination and also will learn to promote balance and relaxation. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle and come discover the magic of yoga.
