** No Chess registration in the Spring. Classes from the Winter session continue into the Spring. Chess has a 5:45pm end time.

Classes are only open to PTO families. Not a member? Sign up online for $25 per family.

BASA Spring 2022 Class Descriptions 

 

Art - All Things Spring                                

Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm

CRES Instructor: Ms. Pugh| $120 for 6 sessions (materials included)

Join Ms. Pugh, a beloved former CRES art teacher, in exploring the creative wonders of spring with paints, straws, and optical illusions. There will be fantastic projects using a mix of media and techniques to create cool art. Bring your imagination and join our spring fling!

Book Club – “The Page Turners”                              

Tuesdays 8:00-9:00am

CRES Instructor: Ms. Mulry | $120 for 8 sessions  

Calling all Bookdragons! CRES book club has a new mission, library ambassadors. As a club, we will read, discuss, and review a selection of books and craft reviews of those books. We will write and produce short videos to promote our favorite books and share those videos during CRES 411. Come join the fun at morning BASA!

Crocheting                

Wednesdays 8:00-9:00am 

CRES Instructor: Ms. Matthews | $135 for 8 sessions (materials included)

Mix learning a lifelong skill with service learning! Students will learn how to crochet a hat, scarf, or blanket while also participating in a community donation of blankets. The crocheted blankets will be donated to local families in need through our local emergency rescue offices. Students will learn basic crochet stitches, common motifs and patterns.

Debate               

Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm  

Instructors: Steven Porter & Sebi Kriznic | $100 for 6 sessions 

Interested in debate? Come learn from two current Langley High School debate students. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of public speaking, forensics, and debate. While the class will be fun and low-key, students will learn all of the techniques that they will need to be prepared for debating in middle school. Topics include researching a subject, structuring an argument, and presenting those arguments confidently.

 

Grade: 6

Fast Break Basketball              

Thursdays 4:15-5:15pm 

Instructor: Overtime Athletics (OTA) | $120 for 7 sessions 

3-2-1…Swish! Join us for Fast Break Basketball where we’ll “cross-over” between GAME PLAY and skills stations. The games within the game are where we will expose players to HOOPS skills like dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defense. Test your abilities by having fun scrimmaging or playing games like Dribble Scribble, King of the Court, Knock Out, and MORE! Be ready to take that last second shot, make that extra pass, and block that basket while learning basketball fundamentals and teamwork. If there is rain, class will be held in the Cafeteria for conditioning and other games.

 

Grades: 1-4

Dates: 3/24 - 5/19 (no class on 3/31 due to early release)

Location: Basketball Courts (if rain, the Cafeteria)

 

LEGO Building Club                         

Thursdays 4:15-5:15pm

CRES Instructor: Ms. White | $100 for 6 sessions (materials included)

Show your creativity as you build LEGO creations. Each week will offer a different project theme, including Boat Races (build a sailboat to race with box fan “wind”), Monster Mix Up (create a monster with the head, arms and legs cards that you randomly choose), and Disaster Island (build an island, pick a disaster card, and fix the problem). While having fun with LEGOS, students will find their inner designer, engineer or inventor. This is the ideal class for any LEGO-maniac! Please note that this class is the same as was offered in the Winter session.

 

Grades: K-1

Dates: 3/24 - 5/12 (no class on 3/31 due to early release)

Location: Ms. White's Room 

 

Run Club                                  

Wednesdays 8:15-9:00am 

CRES Instructors: Ms. Bunch & Ms. Abernathy | $150 for 8 sessions  

Spring is the perfect time to get outdoors and in shape! Come Wednesday mornings to train as part of the Colvin Runners. Students will build endurance and confidence and will learn to push themselves further than they thought possible, while having fun with their friends.  They will build towards an unofficial 5K by the end of the session at Colvin Run.  A Colvin Runners t-shirt is included.  Please note 8:15am start time.

 

Grades: 3-6

Location: Meet at the Basketball Court; Run Outside 

 

Yoga​​​​​​​​​                                        

Tuesdays 4:15-5:15pm

CRES Instructor: Mr. Bittner | $100 for 6 sessions 

Yoga is a fantastic way for your child to unwind after a long school day!  In this hour-long yoga class, students will improve their flexibility, strength, and coordination and also will learn to promote balance and relaxation. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle and come discover the magic of yoga. 

 

Grades: 3-6
